Bays Mountain Park offers food trucks for park visitors on weekends from April until Thanksgiving. To lessen the workload on park staff, these trucks are coordinated and scheduled by the Friends of Bays (BMPA) volunteers.
The food truck schedule for the entire year is finalized in January/February.
Vendor must be inspected and approved by the Kingsport Fire Department in the year in which they wish to serve at the park.
Power: Currently the park provides a relatively weak 110v power connection. Vendors requiring 220v or even a heavy 110v power supply cannot setup at the park. Generators are only allowed in very rare and temporary circumstances.
Menu: since the majority of park visitors are families, we seek vendors who offer several menu items for less than $10. Preference is given for vendors offering food items and not just beverages.
Days and Hours: A vendor is usually scheduled for a 2-day weekend (Saturday + Sunday) . They should be setup by 11am (Saturdays) and 11:30am (Sundays) and stay until late afternoon as the crowd begins to thin out. Occasionally 2 vendors might "split" a weekend with each other and only serve one day each.
Reliability: Once the schedule is set, each vendor is expected to serve at the park on their assigned dates. Any deviation from the schedule should be coordinated through the scheduler asap. Vendors will not be allowed to serve at the park if they show a pattern of being unreliable.
If you are a vendor interested in serving at Bays Mountain Park, contact us at foodtrucks@FriendsOfBays.org
But please be certain that you meet the above requirements before reaching out!
Once our schedule is set for the year, we may be able to put you on a "fill-in" list if a scheduled vendor has to cancel.
